SERDANG, September 22 - Uniqueness of the HPUPM Promotion Program Series is highlighted by the HPUPM Talk # 9 Program: The launch of the "Heart of HPUPM", as the starting point for volunteer program in HPUPM. The program is aimed at introducing the HPUPM volunteer group, namely "Heart of HPUPM", the involvement of university staffs and students and community. The program provide exposure on volunteers role at HPUPM and attract engagement as well as collecting HPUPM volunteer databases.
The establishment of "Heart of HPUPM" is supported by the Director of HPUPM, where he expressed his desire to make this volunteer group a member of the public and assisted by HPUPM staff. He also added that this group of volunteers acted to carry out support activities for the benefit of HPUPM patients.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) of UPM, YBhg. Prof. Dato 'Dr. -The Ir. Renuganth Varatharajoo, has given his full support to this program by representing UPM Vice Chancellors to officiate the Heart of HPUPM Launching Ceremony and the HPUPM website. He expressed his pride and excitement with the presence of various groups of volunteers and the public in the establishment of HPUPM volunteer group. He hoped that the spirit of volunteerism will always be embedded in the self and the services and sacrifices of a volunteer will always be remembered.
The launch ceremony has also introduced the "Heart of HPUPM" logo, the Vest and Sash prototype that will be used by HPUPM volunteers. Among the volunteer groups that are present to support the "Heart of HPUPM" are from the Persatuan Sahabat Masjid UPM, Kelab Penyayang UPM, Gerakan Pengguna Siswa UPM, Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS), University of the Third Age (U3A), Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia, Persatuan Perubatan Islam Malaysia dan Sudu Angels Organization.
The program is continued with the “Heart to Heart Forum session: Volunteers to Patients” administered by Dr Aaron Fernandez with four invited panel members, Mr. Kuan Chee Heng (The 10-cent Man), Dr. Chee Hui Yee (Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Malaysia), Dr Ahmad Munawwar Helmi Salim (Malaysian Medical Association of Malaysia, IMARET) and Mrs. Noorazizah Berahim (Cancer Patient, CaRE).
The program also includes some exciting activities such as Teddy Bear Hospital, CPR Snake and Ladders, CaRE Exhibition, Nutrition Activity and Zumba for participants and volunteers present. A total of 283 people participate and 76 have registered as volunteers consisting of UPM staff, students and the public. Through this program, HPUPM hopes that "Heart of HPUPM" will be a charity organization (NGO) that will fulfill the concept and objectives of future volunteers.
