SERDANG, Aug 28 - The Teaching Hospital Universiti Putra Malaysia (HPUPM) continues its scientific program in the HPUPM Program Promotion Series by organizing HPUPM Talk # 8: MSQH and OSH In A Glance.
With the opening of hospitals, expected in January 2019, HPUPM took the initiative to provide exposure and knowledge about the importance of MSQH and OSH for hospitals operation. The program also provide exposure on the importance of environmental and mental healthcare while working.
The first part of the program was initiated with a description of Hospital Accreditation Hospital Accreditation Standards (MSQH 5th Edition) - Generic Standards and Specific by Associate Professor Dr. M. A. Marikar Rate, Chief Executive Officer of MSQH. He has introduced the MSQH Fifth Edition standard and emphasizes the importance of MSQH to be applied in hospitals, particularly in HPUPM.
The program continues with the second talk which covers topics related to environmental and mental health during work. With the topic of "Working in A Safe Hospital Environment: The Do's and Don'ts for Medical Practitioners", Dr Siti Sara Yaacob from the Public Health Division, Selangor State Health Department, describes the types of hazards in the clinical or hospital environment. She also provides guidance to prevent accidents at workplace according to the type of hazard.
Meanwhile, Dr. Karen Sharmini A/P Sandasamy from the Mental Health Unit, Ministry of Health Malaysia has shared about the types of stress and ways to overcome stress at work. She was given the topic "Worker Well-Being and High Performance Workplace Issues Related to Mental Health and Stress", successfully gave awareness to the participant to maintain mental health in order to provide the best services for patients and during work.
This program is hoped to provide HPUPM staff with the opportunity to apply MSQH and OSH to emphasize the occupational safety and environmental health as well as mental health while working in the hospital.
